conventions in New Zealand donate excess funds to future
conventions and charities. This is because New
Zealand conventions are run for fun, not to make a profit. Since no one running the
convention gets any of the money, any excess is given away. The charity for OdysseyCon is
the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand.
