More,
more I'm still not satisfied... |
|
|
Let's face it. A convention can
live or die on the quality of it's events. So we need to know what you want to see. Events
can range from the lighthearted to the serious.
There are the usual types of events, however, we don’t
want this to be a same-old-same-old convention. If you
have events you want to run, or ideas for events you want
to see, please tell us.
As well as the rooms shown below, there are a number of
smaller rooms for our use where we will be placing ongoing
events such as board gaming and so on.

The Auction
We
are looking for items for the Auction. If you have items
to sell, please let us know before-hand. If you wish us to
sell on your behalf, the convention takes a 15% . Please
mention any reserve prices.
The
Writers Workshop
OdysseyCon will be following the successful format of
writers' stream used at Conquest 2. On Friday, there will
be a continuous writers' stream from 9 am to 7 pm (with
breaks). Presenters will include well-known writers
Mercedes Lackey, Larry Dixon, Sean McMullen and Lyn
McConchie. Anne Simpson from HarperCollins Publishers will
also be addressing us about their new NZ SF line, and what
they will be looking for. Sean has asked for more to do
this time, and we are delighted to oblige him, since all
of his sessions on his last visit left us wanting more.
There will be no organized workshopping of stories as
such. The boardroom will however be available during the
dinner-break for critiquing and discussion, and private
arrangements may be made with other participants. We
recommend that all attendees of the writers' stream bring
along at least one finished piece and one
work-in-progress, as they may be useful in some exercises,
and you may, of course, wish to discuss them with other
participants. We confidently expect this to be the best
one-day writers' stream ever run in Australasia.
The
Artist Workshop
Larry Dixon will be taking this artists workshop on Sunday
morning. It's likely to be a discussion on styles and
techniques. You are encouraged to bring your own work for
discussion. If you can, bring a range of items, from
completed to part way through. This is for everyone, from
starting artists on up. |
